Strategic Planning

We conduct a customized strategic planning processes based on the needs of each client. The amount of time allocated to the process dictates the approach. Strategic planning is defined as, “A disciplined effort to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what an organization is, what it does, and why it does it, with a focus on the future. Services can include an analysis of internal and external forces to understand the benchmarks needed for performance improvement, conducting interviews with, staff, and agency clients and conducting a visioning session for the Board and Staff.  We can conduct focus groups, and one on one interviews with key stakeholders.

Fundraising

Our goal in working with our clients is to take the stress out of fund development. With our work, we assist clients in developing the project or program design by facilitating all design meetings, preparing budgets, researching, and preparing the full proposals, grant applications, government proposals, bids, contracts, and directing individual donor campaigns.

Organizational Development

We are after “systemic change on behalf of root-cause problem-solving toward improving productivity and employee satisfaction." This is the most powerful aspect of our work. Systemic change gets at the root cause of organizational problems that are in the way of full productivity and high performance. Human systems are not like machines. When machines malfunction, the process of choice is to locate the malfunctioning component(s), then fix or replace them. In human systems, such fault-finding processes tend to promulgate more problems, rarely solutions. In human systems a "malfunctioning component" can only exist with the support of the rest of the system.

Facilitation

The Lindsay Group consultants provide group facilitation in an engaging and productive style.  Whether you need assistance with a small or large group we can provide you with the support you need. We design and facilitate each working session to engage participants from the first minute. Clients work with us to create clear objectives, ground rules, preparation packages, and agendas that meet or exceed goals.  We help clients select the best tools and technology that can accelerate and enrich results. Each session includes an action-planning component to maintain momentum and foster commitment to results. An effective meeting process starts well before the meeting begins and continues well after it ends. Working cooperatively with each client we collect background data and review critical issues to develop a comprehensive planning structure that can be aided with facilitation software. The software moves a group successfully from idea generation to decision making by enabling objective and open participation. Tools for focused brainstorming, idea building and prioritizing get difficult issues on the table and help shift negative group dynamics towards objective problem solving and consensus. Action planning documents and outcomes will be generated and set the stage for implementation.

Technical Writing

The Lindsay Group, LLC. prepares technical manuals and certification applications which enable clients to obtain certification of programs.  We prepare Business Plans, Annual Reports, Employment Polices and Procedures Manuals, Board of Directors' Handbooks as well as other documents. In 2008 we assisted the Jered Facility and the Holy Care Foundation with preparing Certification Applications including  Policies and Procedures Manuals and other documents which enabled the clients to secure certification of their programs by the D.C. Disabilities Services and Child and Family Services agencies.

Evaluation

Constance Lindsay has over 5 years of experience both working in the education policy sector as well as conducting various types of quantitative research projects.  Ms. Lindsay has a PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University and has a Masters degree in public policy from Georgetown University and a degree in economics from Duke University.  As a Presidential Management Fellow at the US Department of Education, Ms. Lindsay assisted with the implementation of the National Assessment of Vocational Education survey, which was conducted nationally amongst providers of, and stakeholders in, vocational education in order to report back to Congress on the state of vocational education in America.  She also spent time at the Urban Institute working on a project that focused on evaluating the capacity of organizations serving children in the Washington, D.C. area.  Since being at Northwestern, she has honed her methodology skills through classes in econometrics, program evaluation, and research methodology. Her dissertation work focused on ways in which the structure and practice of schooling relate to gender and racial differences in educational outcomes using nationally representative datasets.  In her dissertation, she uses propensity score methodologies, t-Tests, regression, and ethnography to conduct the analyses.  She has a solo-authored publication that is currently in the revise and resubmit phase of review at Social Science Quarterly that uses the exact same methods that will be used in determining any impacts of the Asthma Education and Training Program.
